- Summarises an orally presented, grade-level story/description by identifying, organizing and stating the key details/events
- Learns to use comprehension strategies to understand and interpret the read grade-level story/text (e.g. identfying the key ideas and summarising; using prior knowledge, predicting, using graphic organizers)
- Reads grade-level texts (of around 80-100 words) with connected sentences accurately and fluently (~35 correct words per minute)
- Writes a meaningful text of 5-6 sentences in response to a picture/story/experience/text, using appropriate vocabulary (nouns, pronouns, adjectives, prepositions), sentence structures, organization of ideas and basic punctuation (with some invented spelling)
